課程概述

In order to acquaint the students with trends and/or practical developments in the field of IS and IT, we invite distinguished active researchers in the IS and related fields as well as successful executive managers from the industry to share their knowledge and experiences on topics of information management, information technologies, digital innovation, organizational transformation enabled by IT, etc. Each talk will last for about 90 minutes, plus 30 minutes for Q&A interactions between the speaker and the audience.  

課程目標
 The purpose of this class is to introduce diverse and current topics related to IS research and industry to undergraduate and graduate students in the IS department.  
課程要求
 Students are required to attend all talks scheduled for this course. Students are expected to show their respect and courtesy to the invited speakers, such that showing up late and leaving early are highly discouraged. Meanwhile, students are encouraged to actively participate in the speech by asking questions and responding to the speakers. TA will document the level of participations, which will serve as a substantial part for the final grade of this course. Moreover, students are required to write a report for each of the talks and hand in the reports before the next scheduled talk. Late submissions and plagiarism are not accepted. Particularly, please note that plagiarism is a serious violation to the policy of NTU and will result to failure of the course.

 Class attendance  
50% 
 1. When three or more talks are missed without legit reasons, students will be failed for this course. If the students have legit reasons for not showing up, official documents are required. Showing up late or leaving early will be counted as missing class. 2. TA will prepare a name plate for each of the students. Students are expected to show up 5 minutes before the class, take his/her name plate from the TAs and insert it in the slip on the table. 3. The doors of the classroom will be closed when the bell rings.

 Class participation 
20% 
 1. Students are strongly encouraged to express their opinions and asking questions during the talk or the Q&A session. 2. TA will count the times of active participation of the students and use them to calculate the level of participation.  
3. 
 Reports 
30% 
 1. Students are expected to write at least 6 reports for the talks. Extra reports will gain extra credits. 2. Each repot will be no less than one page and no longer than 3 pages. The format of the report is as the following: A4 page size, page layout/margins/normal (top/bottom 2.54 cm、left/right 3.18 cm)、12-pt font size、1.5 lines. Name and student ID number are required to be noted on the top of all reports. 3. Each report is due at the beginning of the dedicated class meeting following the talk. Late report will not be accepted. Plagiarism will not be allowed in any circumstances.
